ENG 180.S1 Topics in English Study: Writing Term Papers

This is a four-week course in which students will build English reading and writing skills. The emphasis will be on reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary and grammar. Students will make connections between the readings and their personal experience to develop their writings. The specific skills to be developed are: essay structure, quotations, citations, and rhetorical devices. Students are expected to read 15 pages a week, maintain a reading log, and write a 4-5-page final paper.

ENG 180.S2 Topics in English Study: China - US Relations

June 14 - July 9 M / Th 1:20 - 3:00 PM

This course will develop English reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Students will reflect and analyze readings pertaining to the developments of modern-day China and its relationship to the United States. Students will be expected to read 15-20 pages a week and complete reading responses, short writing assignments, and a final 5-6 page analytical paper.
