About the Instructors

Bhikshuni Heng Yin has been a Buddhist nun for 20 years ordained under the guidance of the late Venerable Master Hsuan Hua. She is a translator for the Buddhist Text Translation Society as well as the Principal of the Developing Virtue Secondary Girls’ School at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. Bhikshuni Heng Yin holds an MA in Translation of Buddhist Texts from DRBU.

Bhikshuni Heng Je has been a Buddhist nun for 20 years in the Chinese Mahayana tradition and was fully ordained in 1992 under the guidance of the late Venerable Master Hsuan Hua. She is a Lecturer in Buddhist Study and Practice, Translation and Language Studies, and Chinese Studies at DRBU and holds an MA in Translation and Language Studies from DRBU.

Doug Powers holds an MA in Philosophy and Religion from the Graduate Theological Union and an MAT in Political Science from the University of Redlands. He is the provost of DRBU and currently lectures on Western Philosophy and Buddhist Study and Practice at DRBU. Doug is also an advisor and teacher for Dharma Realm Buddhist Young Adults.
