Avatamsaka Sutra Summer Program

Locations

With the exception of the week in Oregon, the program will be held at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Ukiah, California. Set in the midst of mountains, rolling hills, vineyards, and pear orchards, the clean air and landscape of Ukiah Valley of Mendocino County provide an ideal environment for study and practice. A community of monks, nuns, students, and lay persons, the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas provides a glimpse of the monastic life set forth by the Buddha. The activities within this unique setting cause one to slow down, reflect, and see the world from an entirely new perspective.

We will spend the third week of July in the woods of Buddha Root Farm on the banks of the Smith River near Reedsport, Oregon. There will be chances to do mindful walks in nature along with sitting meditation and Sutra study.
