Tripiṭaka
Tripiṭaka is a Sanskrit word meaning literally ‘three baskets.’ It refers to the Buddhist canon, which is divided into three portions: sutras, vinaya, and Abhidharma. They are sometimes listed as sutras, vinaya, and śāstras.

Commentary

“The Sutra Store describes and reveals the study of concentration. The Vinaya Store describes and reveals the study of precepts. And the Śāstra Store describes and reveals the study of wisdom. Sutras, vinaya, and śāstras correspond to precepts, samadhi, and wisdom, and they eradicate greed, anger, and delusion.” (FAS Ch9 185)
